Donny Wadley – Pastor/Elder

Our Pastor, Donny came to the Fountain City Campus in May of 2009. Before coming to Fountain City he was the College and Singles Pastor at FBC – Powell Campus for over 8 years. He graduated in 2001 with a BA in Ministry from Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Pineville, KY. Donny has been married to his beautiful wife Debi around 20 years. They have 4 children, who are all homeschooled, Meghan 17, Aly 15, James 10, and Trey 8.

What do you like most about working on the Fountain City Campus?
Unlike my responsibilities at the Powell Campus, I have really enjoyed working with everyone from children to the senior adults. The people at Fountain City are very loving and accepting.

 

Hidden talents:
Juggling and singing karaoke with the kids in the basement. My wife, Debi doesn’t consider my singing a talent!

Little known fact about me:
I’m a Yankee! I was born in Illinois.

Restaurant: Chop House – of course the one in Fountain City!
Drink at Starbucks: Anything without the coffee taste or a Strawberry and Crème Frappuccino

David Williams – Worship Leader

David came to the FBC at Fountain City in September of 2011. He is enrolled at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary as an online/hybrid student studying for his Master in Divinity in Expositional Preaching. He graduated from the University of Tennessee (and bleeds orange!) in May of 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics during which he lead worship for the Baptist Collegiate Ministry and other churches in the area. David and his wife, Chrissy, met leading worship together in 2008 and then got married in July of 2011.

Get To Know David:

What do you love most about leading worship?

So hard to put into words! I love seeing people pour out their hearts to God and worship Him both in Spirit and in Truth! It has been such a blessing to come to a church already filled with worshippers with such a passion for the Gospel. I also love seeing how worship here on Sunday mornings can spill over into the rest of a person’s week in their homes, jobs, and all walks of life!

Hidden talents:
I consider the ability to be mediocre at so many things a talent in and of itself! I’m also a pretty descent skier!

Little known fact about me:
If you know me for very long, you’ll learn I’m quite the nerd! My idea of relaxation involves a good theoretical physics book, a candle, and some classical music!

Favorites:

Books (other than the Bible): The God Who is There by Francis Schaeffer, Erasing Hell by Francis Chan A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking, and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Drink at Starbucks: Soy Pumpkin Spice (Latte or Frappuccino depending on how hot/cold October decides to be!)
Junk Food: Fun Dip. A whole lot of Fun Dip


Chris Conner – Director of Student Ministries

Chris began attending the Fountain City Campus November 2008 and later became a member February 2009.  He has been a deacon, and taught the  College Lifegroup before he was called into the ministry to be the Director of Student Ministries.  He is from Madison, GA and moved to Knoxville in February of 2004.  Chris has been married to his wife Jennifer for 8 years. They have 2 children Preston, 8, and Madison, 5.

What do you like most about working on the Fountain City Campus?
I love how the people here are so focused on God’s will and on loving on the people in our community and around the world. I love our youth ( of which I am the biggest kid) and hope to see the gospel shared in the schools by our students.

Hidden talents:
I am a self-proclaimed meteorologist. I love weather! I can predict the weather better than most of our paid news people.

 

Little known fact about me:
I have 4 brothers and 1 sister. I am the oldest.

Brian Ownby – Children’s Pastor

Our Children’s Pastor, Brian has been at the Fountain City Campus since August 2008. Before coming to the Fountain City Campus, he was at the Powell Campus and served as the Awana Commander.  He has attended Johnson University (formerly Johnson Bible College).  Brian has been married to his wife, Becky, for over 30 years.  They have 2 sons, Derek and Stephen.  Derek is married to Rebekah and is a Youth Pastor in Oregon.  Stephen is married to Kim and is studying to be a missionary.  Brian and Becky have 2 grandchildren, Shae (3) and Stephen (15 months).

What do you like most about working on the Fountain City Campus?

The people at Fountain City are the type you would want to spend a lifetime with.  In the good times and bad, they still love the Lord.  They teach me through their love and that is why I love being there and helping their children to grow in Christ.  The kids also teach me in how they care for each other and their respect for their teachers.

Hidden talents:
Can do the robot dance!

I like to draw and paint.

Tina Greer – Administrative Assistant

Tina is a newbie to the FBC staff, but has been a member of First Baptist for over 20 years.  She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Manangement from Tusculum College.  Tina has been married to her wonderful husband, Jack, for over 15 years.  They have 5 children: Jackson, 13, Anna, 8, Dylan 6, Alivia 5, and Sophie 4.

Get to Know Tina:

What do you like most about working on the Fountain City Campus?  I LOVE Fountain City!  I grew up in Fountain City, went to Fountain City Elementary School, Gresham Middle, and Central High!  I love the community – the people, the stores, and our small country feel.

Hidden talents:
Talents?  Ha!  I spend my time juggling children from ballparks to appointments!

Little know fact about me:
My husband and I lived about a mile from each other growing up and now live less than a mile from both sets of our parents.

Favorites:

Book (other than the Bible): 10 Minutes til Bedtime (we read at least once a day) and Embracing God’s Grace by Elizabeth George
Restaurant: Long’s Drug Store (but I have to leave Fountain City to get there)
Drink at Starbucks: White Chocolate Mocha

Judy Rogers – Administrative Assistant

 

Judy has been working on the Fountain City Campus for about 2 years, and has worked for First Baptist for a total of 10 years. She has been Donny’s assistant many of those years working with College and Singles ministry before coming to the FC campus. Judy has a B.S. in Nursing which she uses daily but hasn’t practiced nursing in over 20 years. Her husband, Kevin is a LifeGroup teacher and deacon on the Powell Campus. They have 2 grown children: Briana (another nurse) and Jacob (a budding church planter).

What do you like most about working on the Fountain City Campus?

The PEOPLE: from day one everyone has made me feel so welcome. I’m also excited to be a part of this work of God. To see where this campus was a few years ago and now to see the growth is exciting, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.

 

Hobbies/Interests:

I enjoy gardening in my small patch of dirt (and having Donny’s boys come over to help me). I also love to read and cook.

 

Little know fact:

I grew up on a dairy farm in Western New York where it snowed, A LOT!!! My husband says there are 2 seasons there: snow and mud! I’m thankful to be in the South!

 

Favorites:

Book: C.J. Mahaney’s  Living the Cross-Centered Life or Jerry Bridges’ Discipline of Grace

 

Starbucks Drink: Earl Grey latte with extra vanilla

 

Restaurant:  Any place Mr. Rogers wants to take me!
