welcome to first baptist church at fountain city

Overwhelmed by the gift of salvation we have found in Jesus, we have a heart for authentic worship, are passionate about the local church, and are on mission to see God’s kingdom established across the earth.

fbcfountaincity.org is designed to paint – with words and pictures – the story of what Jesus is doing in our church. We hope that as you read our story, you will be inspired to discover the God we speak of and to take your own place in His story.

Worship Gatherings

Every Sunday morning at 11 we gather together as a church to worship God through singing, studying and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe coming together weekly is not only Biblical, it is exciting and life-changing!
If you are new to our church, this is a great time to come hear what we’re all about! For more info, use the contact form at the bottom of the page!

Small Groups

We believe that Scripture shows us in Acts 2:42-47 that the early church gathered together in the temple and from house to house. Our House Groups are meant to continue that tradition and are our primary means of fellowship, discipleship and serving in our community. For more info, use the contact form at the bottom of the page!
At 9:45 on Sunday mornings we meet for LifeGroups. These groups are designed for people who have much in common to share their stories and study the Bible together.

City Kids

Taken from “First Baptist Church at Fountain City Kids Ministry”, City Kids exists to bring glory to God by sharing the Gospel with the children of our community, serving the families of the church, and ultimately making young disciples of Jesus Christ! Our goal is not to just provide childcare, but to begin laying the foundation in Gospel for the future generation.
We have City Kids LifeGroups at 9:45 every Sunday Morning and AWANA every Wednesday Night at 6:30 as well as many events throughout the year!

FC Students

The Student Ministry at FBC exists to bring glory to God by helping students connect to Jesus Christ and grow in Him daily, as we come along side parents in discipling their students. We long to see the students of our church proclaim Christ boldly in their schools and become spiritually mature in their walk with Christ.
Every week we have FC Student Worship on Wednesdays at 6:30pm, HOOK for Middle Schoolers on Tuesdays at 3:33pm and LifeGroups at 9:45 on Sunday Mornings.

Missions

Missions is the heart beat of fbc@fc. God has blessed us with both the beautiful Gospel of Jesus Christ and the opportunity to share His love with the whole world. He has specifically given us opportunities to serve in Southern and East Asia, East and West Africa, Central America, throughout the United States and especially Knoxville, Tennessee.

What to Expect

Here at fbc@fc we want to make you feel at home your first time here! That’s why we bring the coffee and save you a parking spot! But we know you have a few more questions, so we want to tell you a little more about our church. If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to call us or send us an email!

The goal of our worship music at fbc@fc is to be glorifying to God above all things! We choose songs based on their foundation in Scripture, theological integrity, and how much we like to sing them! You will hear a combination of modern songs, songs from the past 10 years (“contemporary”) and songs that have been treasured throughout the centuries.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”

Colossians 3:16

Like our worship, the goal of our teaching at fbc@fc is to be glorifying to God. Therefore we are very intentional with our subject matter and style. We strive to preach nothing but Scripture, and therefore spend much time in what is called “Exegetical Preaching” or preaching verse-by-verse through Scripture.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17

At fbc@fc you will meet all kinds of people! We never want to be a church for people only in their 20′s or their 70′s, but instead a church for all ages, races, incomes, and personalities! The people in our church family wear anything from a suit and a bow-tie to ripped up jeans and a t-shirt! Our goal is to exclaim what God has done in our lives through His Son Jesus Christ and to make you feel as welcome as possible!

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. For the body does not consist of one member but of many.”

1 Corinthians 12:12-14

We believe that the best people to share the Gospel with someone’s kids are the parents. That’s why we take equiping our parents very seriously! During our Worship Gatherings, we encourage parents to keep their kids by them, setting an example of what it means to worship God and study Scripture.

“You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

Deuteronomy 11:18-19
